Shape (usually spherical in shape)

Surface (lobulated)

Symmetry

skin pigmentation

Surgical scars(indicate recurrence)

Dilated veins(most common in liposarcoma)

Palpation

ask first about site of tenderness

Tenderness

Temperature

Constancy (Soft or firm)

Surface lobulated

Edges(slippery edges)

Fixity to skin and underling structure (freely mobile)

positive fluctuation but negative Cross Fluctuation(Pseudo-fluctuation )

Translumination test may be +ve if large and soft

If became more obvious with contraction of the muscle (Subcutaneous),if it became less obvious it is inter-muscular.

Examine the draining lymph node

Cover the patient

Thank the patient
